Demographics

In Bangladesh there are far too many children who cannot afford to attend school. So who receives help from Humble Effort?

All of Bangladesh can be separated into 8 major regions referred to as divisions. We currently focus our efforts towards providing a path towards education for the 25% of children who are out of school in the Dhaka division. The prevalence of children who have never been to school or who have dropped out in Dhaka City Cooperation are significantly higher than the national average of both urban and rural areas (UNICEF 2013).

Poverty acts as a main barrier between children in Bangladesh and their education. One can see the association of out of school children by level of poverty for each age group below as of 2010.

Regardless of wealth, drop out rates increase with age. Through our model we attempt to keep children in school by engaging in monthly checkups with out students. With our work we hope to end cycles of poverty which exclude children from opportunities and instead make them more susceptible to exploitation, impoverished living areas, abuse and trafficking.
